Like most people, our childhood was influenced by where we lived and who came into our lives. Growing up in New Orleans, there was a variety of colorful people and exciting experiences that helped to shape our imaginations.
Once we had our own children, these experiences and memories flowed into their lives. Our children transformed stories from our imaginations into an entire world of creative fun. With these memories becoming personified, we knew we wanted to share them through the written word.
When looking into publishing our first book, we found that many publishing companies preferred to retain the rights to our work! So, we started our own company, mostly because we don’t like to be told what to do! We understand the love and passion that goes into creating masterpieces, and we didn’t want to sell off our memories.
My sister and I started Pig Pen Publishing with these goals in mind: to have the freedom to write what we want, publish what we want and help who we want. Publishing a book is not simple. Navigating all the ins and outs, as well as the necessary requirements is actually quite cumbersome. Through time and much effort, we have figured out how to jump through all these hoops. We are happy to work alongside other authors to help them with this process.
Making sure that the author maintains the rights to their work is a top priority for us. Since we didn’t want to sell off our memories and hard work, we want to offer this same luxury to other writers as well.
